Explore Homes NearbyEdenbridge Living offers SDA across all four design categories, ensuring residents with acquired brain injury can access housing matched to their specific level of need.

Edenbridge Living partners with rehabilitation professionals and SIL providers experienced in brain injury support to ensure coordinated care for all ABI residents.
As a family-owned SDA provider, Edenbridge is committed to long-term housing stability. Our homes are designed to adapt as needs change over time, which is particularly important for ABI residents whose support requirements may evolve.
We work with SIL providers who have experience supporting people with acquired brain injury, including Achieve Australia, JewishCare, Trusted Home Care, and Aruma. These providers understand the specific daily support needs of ABI residents.
Edenbridge Living offers SDA homes in established suburbs across Sydney's Inner West, Eastern Suburbs, Western Sydney, and the Central Coast. All properties are located near healthcare services, public transport, and community amenities.
Our properties are located near hospitals, rehabilitation centres, and allied health providers. This is particularly important for ABI residents who may require ongoing neurological review, physiotherapy, occupational therapy, or speech pathology.
Living in an established community supports social participation and recovery for people with acquired brain injury. Our homes are situated in neighbourhoods with parks, shops, cafes, and public transport, helping residents maintain connections and build new ones.
Follow these steps to access ABI housing in NSW.
01What Is ABI? | Acquired brain injury (ABI) refers to any damage to the brain that occurs after birth. Common causes include traumatic injury from falls or accidents, stroke, infection, tumour, or lack of oxygen. Approximately 700,000 Australians live with an ABI (Brain Injury Australia). Each person’s experience is different, which is why housing must be tailored to individual needs. |
02How ABI Affects Daily Living | ABI can affect memory, concentration, communication, behaviour, physical mobility, and emotional regulation. Many people with ABI experience fatigue, difficulty with planning and decision-making, and changes in personality. These challenges make standard housing unsuitable for many ABI survivors who need consistent, predictable environments. |
03SDA Eligibility for ABI | People with ABI may be eligible for SDA funding if they have extreme functional impairment or very high support needs that cannot be met in mainstream housing. An occupational therapist assessment is typically required to demonstrate how specialist housing design would improve safety and independence. |
04Confirm Your SDA Eligibility | Verify you are an NDIS participant with SDA funding in your plan. SDA eligibility for ABI requires evidence of extreme functional impairment or very high support needs. Your NDIS planner or support coordinator can help determine if you qualify. |
05Obtain Clinical Assessments | Gather assessments from neuropsychologists, occupational therapists, and rehabilitation professionals. These reports should document how your brain injury affects daily function and why specialist housing features would support your safety and independence. |
06Discuss Housing Goals | Meet with your NDIS planner to discuss your housing preferences and goals. Explain the specific ABI-related design features you need, such as memory aids, safety modifications, or physical accessibility. Specify your preferred location within Sydney or the Central Coast. |
07Transition Support | Once approved, we coordinate your transition with your support team. Moving into a new home can be challenging for people with ABI, so we work with your SIL provider and allied health professionals to ensure a smooth, well-planned move. |
08Property Matching | Edenbridge Living assesses your application to match you with a suitable property. We consider your specific ABI-related needs, preferred design category, location preferences, and lifestyle goals to find the best fit. |
09Contact Edenbridge Living | Reach out to our team to discuss available ABI housing options. We can explain our property features, design categories, and how our homes are tailored to support residents with acquired brain injury. We welcome enquiries from participants, families, and support coordinators. |
10SDA Design Categories for ABI | SDA for acquired brain injury may fall across multiple NDIS design categories depending on the severity and type of impairment. Improved Liveability is common for cognitive support needs, while High Physical Support may be required for residents with significant mobility limitations following stroke or TBI. |
Our SDA homes for residents with acquired brain injury incorporate specific design elements that support safety, memory, and independence. Every feature is chosen based on evidence about what helps people with cognitive and physical impairments live well.

The best SDA design category depends on the nature and severity of the brain injury. Improved Liveability is most common for cognitive impairments, while Fully Accessible or High Physical Support may be needed for significant physical limitations. Your occupational therapist can recommend the most appropriate category based on your individual assessment.
Many people with acquired brain injury can live with a high degree of independence in the right housing environment.
